The Minister of Labour, Yolanda D\u00edaz, has guaranteed that if workers subject to an ERTE (Temporary Employment Regulation File) are finally dismissed, they will have unemployment benefits for 180 days, that is, six months, even if they have not contributed enough to generate this subsidy or have been using it up during the pandemic.<\/p>\n
Interviewed on La Hora de la 1, D\u00edaz wanted to clarify the concept of "zero counter" and explained that people who have been in an ERTE "if they are fired within a year and a half, they will have that 180-day benefit reinstated, something that had never happened before" and that it is due to the measures against the crisis generated by the coronavirus.<\/p>\n
Regarding the extension of the ERTE, the minister has argued that the date is being discussed at the negotiating table with the social agents, but that "it would not make much sense to leave it at December 31 and face the extension in the middle of the Christmas campaign."<\/p>\n
Regarding the possibility that, in six months, the regulatory base will fall from 70% to 50%, D\u00edaz has indicated that "the Government is very sensitive" to this issue and that its objective is "to maintain the income policy." She assures that the entire Government is working together to maintain social protection. "The key moment is precisely now."<\/p>\n
Regarding the leave for parents of children who have to quarantine, the minister has recalled that the Me cuida plan is still in force, which allows the adaptation of the working day to reconcile and care for children, although this option entails a proportional salary cut. In this regard, she maintains that the Minister of Social Security, Jos\u00e9 Luis Escriv\u00e1, is working to extend temporary disability due to quarantine to parents who have to care for their children, an issue that will be discussed at the social dialogue table.<\/p>\n
The agreement on teleworking is almost complete, the minister says that only one technical meeting remains before reaching a consensus. "This law will be approved with four characteristics: it will be voluntary; it will guarantee equal rights in remote and in-person work; it will maintain collective rights and expenses will be compensated."<\/p>\n
Specifically, D\u00edaz stressed that the expenses incurred by teleworkers for carrying out their work remotely "must be covered by the employer" and has announced that the law will not be presented at the Council of Ministers this Tuesday but "will be presented this week."<\/p>\n
