With this new increase of 3.2%, the Government of Pedro S\u00e1nchez would accumulate an increase of 35.9% since 2018<\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This Monday, the Government proposed to employers and unions to approve an increase of 3.2% in the Minimum Interprofessional Wage, which would go from 965 euros in fourteen payments (13,510 euros annually) at which it stood from last September 1 to 1,000 euros (14,000 euros annually).<\/p>\n

The increase, of 35 euros, would come into force retroactively from January 1, 2022, as reported by the Ministry of Yolanda D\u00edaz to the social agents.<\/p>\n

If this increase is carried out, the Government of Pedro S\u00e1nchez will accumulate an increase of 35,88% in the SMI since 2018: in 2019 they raised it from 735.9 euros to 900 euros, in 2020 to 950 euros and in September 2021 They raised it to 965 euros.<\/p>\n

The minister explained that, in line with what was recommended by the group of experts that she established to raise the SMI, her objective was to increase it by a range of between 22 and 40 euros. Given that the Government did not initially want to clarify its proposal, the social agents have understood that the SMI would be 996 euros, the arithmetic average between 987 and 1,005 euros.<\/p>\n

However, Ministry sources later clarified to the press that their proposal was to raise it to the symbolic figure of 1,000 euros, which is also what the unions demand.<\/p>\n

The norm will be analyzed by the social agents although agreement in social dialogue is not necessary to approve this increase, as the minister has recalled. The Government must only consult them and be interested in their opinion, but it can legislate without their agreement.<\/p>\n

The dialogue will end on Wednesday<\/h3>\n

"We will see if the decision ends with a tripartite agreement or a bipartite agreement, but the important thing is that there is social dialogue (...) The unions want more and the employers want less, and I always strike a balance between them," noted the minister, which has called them again for next Wednesday with the aim of approving the measure as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

In fact, CCOO has warned that the dialogue is expected to end on Wednesday, whether there is an agreement or not. The unions have insisted that the SMI must rise to 1,000 euros, while the CEOE and Cepyme have not wanted to comment.<\/p>\n
