Recipients of contributory unemployment benefits who register as self-employed workers in a Social Security scheme may combine said benefit with self-employment, for a maximum of 270 days or for the shorter period pending receipt, provided that the request is made to the managing entity within 15 days from the date of commencement of self-employment activity. After this period, the worker will not be able to benefit from this compatibility.<\/span><\/p>\n The benefit will end if the beneficiary takes up employment. During the time when unemployment benefit is combined with self-employment, the beneficiary will not be required to fulfil the obligations as a job seeker or those arising from the commitment to work.<\/span><\/p>\n The following will be excluded from this measure:<\/span><\/p>\n If, after ceasing self-employment, the worker is entitled to unemployment benefit, he or she may choose between receiving this benefit or reopening the right to unemployment benefit that has been suspended.<\/span><\/p>\n This benefit is also applicable to unemployment beneficiaries who join as partners of labour companies or worker partners of newly created worker cooperatives, covered by a special Social Security regime for self-employed workers.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
