They recommend using the app only in the case of very simple declarations in which you do not have to touch anything.
The Ministry of Finance (Gestha) technicians have warned of the risks of filing the Income Tax Return through the new mobile application, as they consider that it encourages "a hasty confirmation" that could waste some important deductions, by allowing the draft of the return to be confirmed and submitted but not modified.
According to Gestha in a statement, the design of the new app "encourages people to validate the draft without reviewing it in depth" and "many taxpayers may forget to include relevant and beneficial tax information for them."
In this way, it points out that the lack of review could cause the taxpayer to not include some deductible expenses from work income, such as union and professional association dues or expenses that may arise from the geographical mobility of the employee, among others.
The experts have also warned that validating the draft from the app can cause the taxpayer to forget to check the ownership of the properties, the capital gains that could have been achieved or to include births, deaths and changes in marital status that, where applicable, are not reflected in the draft.
In short, Gestha believes that only the simplest tax returns that do not require major modifications can be submitted using this app. "Technology can go from being an ally to becoming an enemy, since, in this case, taxpayers who decide to submit the tax return from their smartphones may forget to include in the draft some deductions from which they could benefit," said Gestha tax expert Antonio Paredes.
