The Government has extended until February 15, 2016 the validity of the PREPARA Plan, a professional requalification program for unemployed people who exhaust their unemployment protection, as published by the Official State Gazette (BOE)  on August 14. To date, it has been extended 8 times.

The objective of this program is to improve the employability of the long-term unemployed or those with family responsibilities. It is aimed at people who exhaust the contributory level unemployment benefit or any of the subsidies. For them, the Public Employment Services develop personalized insertion itineraries based on the characteristics of each beneficiary over a period of 6 months.

An accompanying financial aid of 400 euros per month is also contemplated, a figure that rises to 450 euros for beneficiaries with family responsibilities.

PREPARA is a plan that advances a double objective:

  • Alleviate a real situation of need
  • Recover the employment of the beneficiaries.

PREPARA will continue to be extended automatically every 6 months until unemployment drops below 20%.

So far, in the Region of Murcia, 26,361 unemployed people have benefited from the aid.

Extraordinary Employment Activation Program

In addition to this Plan, the groups with the greatest difficulties in finding a job have, since last January 15 when it was launched, the Employment Activation Program (PAE), intended for the 400,000 long-term unemployed with family responsibilities who do not receive any type of aid, neither state nor regional, as stated in the 'Agreement of proposals for tripartite negotiation to strengthen economic growth and employment'.

This Plan contemplates special individualized and personalized measures so that these unemployed can join the labor market as soon as possible. It is worth remembering that the Plan was agreed upon with the social partners on December 15 and designed together with the Autonomous Communities.
