As of October 2, 2016, Saturdays are non-working days for the purposes of calculating deadlines, joining Sundays and holidays that were already considered as such. Therefore, from now on, when a deadline ends on a Saturday, it will be deemed to be extended to the following Monday.
This change in the consideration of Saturdays as non-working days is derived from the provisions of art. 30 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations (BOE of October 2, 2015) and the Seventh Final Provision, which, in general, determines that the entry into force of the rule will occur one year after its publication.
This change is reflected in the Resolution of 28 September 2016, of the Secretary of State for Public Administrations, establishing the calendar of non-working days for the purposes of calculating deadlines, within the scope of the General State Administration for the year 2016, starting on 2 October 2016.
