They will be able to benefit five days after the electricity marketer receives all the correct and complete documentation.

The Ministry of Ecological Transition has regulated the way in which self-employed workers who have ceased their activity or have seen it reduced due to the current crisis can request to benefit from the social electricity bonus to have a discount on their electricity bill, and has published the model form to request their adherence to it.

This is established by the Ministerial Order published by the Official State Gazette (CLICK HERE) and came into force this Saturday in order to "clarify some practical aspects of the application of this new type of social bonus" included in the package of measures and economic aid approved by the Government last Tuesday.

The order also publishes the application model that affected self-employed workers must use to request access to the social bonus and the corresponding reduction in the price of electricity.

In the application, in addition to his personal and family data, the plaintiff must prove that "he has the right to the benefit for total cessation of professional activity or for having seen his billing in the month prior to the one in which the social bonus is requested reduced by, to less, a 75% in relation to the average billing of the previous semester.

In the particular case that the self-employed worker has had to cease his activity, he must provide to prove it a certificate issued by the Tax Agency, or the corresponding competent body of his community, on the basis of the declaration of cessation of activity declared by the interested.

In the event that the electricity marketing company detects that the application received is incomplete, it will have a period of five days to contact the requesting consumer and indicate the documentation that must be corrected.

Once the correctly completed applications are received and with all the supporting documentation, the electricity company will also have a maximum of five business days to, through the computer platform available for this purpose at the electronic headquarters of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, verify the data and communicate by email to the consumer that the criteria for the application of the social bonus and the date from which it will be applied are met.

In this case of correct applications, within that same period the change of marketer and the formalization of the contract at the Voluntary Price for Small Consumers (PVPC) must have been made.

The social bonus will accrue from the first day of the billing cycle in which the complete application with supporting documentation is received.

PENDING PLATFORM ADAPTATION

However, in its Order, the Ministry indicates that the five-day period established for verifying the plaintiff's data on the computer platform of this Department will not be enforceable until the aforementioned platform has been adapted to the changes in the beneficiaries of the social bonus established by the Government Aid Decree.

As indicated, the Secretary of State for Energy will communicate to the reference marketers the effectiveness of the adaptation of said computer platform.
