The first six months of the year leave 33 fatal accidents in the bus.

Self-employed workers already make mandatory contributions for contingencies due to work accidents and occupational diseases. They have been doing it since January 1st. In this way, it is the first time that the data of this group is taken into account in the accident rate report prepared by the State.

During the first half of the year, 33 self-employed workers lost their lives in a work accident. According to the National Federation of Associations of Self-Employed Workers, this report shows that the group suffers practically the same percentage of accidents classified as very serious as wage-earners, but nevertheless there are fewer fatal accidents among the self-employed.
The data indicates that five out of every thousand self-employed professionals have suffered a work accident during the first six months of 2019. In total, there have been 15,696 accidents that the group as a whole has suffered.

When analyzing the geographical areas in which these occupational accidents occur, we find that Andalusia and Catalonia lead this ranking, with 2,937 and 2,029 accidents, respectively. The Valencian Community and the Madrid Community are in the second line, both with over 1,500 accidents in these six months of 2019.

On the contrary, if we take into account the proportion between accidents and inhabitants, the Foral Community of Navarra, Cantabria and Asturias are the ones with the most accidents at work involving the self-employed.

By provinces, Cuenca, Ciudad Real and Palencia are those with the highest number of incidents.

Services and construction sector

The services and construction sectors are those that have registered the highest number of accidents (6,188 and 4,115, respectively). Agriculture closes the podium with 2,092 accidents.
In the case of wage earners, industry registered more incidents than construction, although behind the services sector.

As explained by ATA, the age group in which the majority of claims are concentrated among the self-employed is the one that goes from 26 to 45 years.
