Last days to apply for grants for training courses tailored to companies

The Community finances with 350,000 euros the courses of companies that commit to hiring participants

The deadline to apply for these grants is open until September 28

Companies in the Region of Murcia that wish to train potential workers in very specific areas already have a call for grants from the Community worth 350,000 euros, with the requirement of hiring a minimum of 40 percent of the participating unemployed. In exchange, these companies not only obtain employees who are already familiar with the specific tasks they will perform once they become part of the workforce, but they also do not have to face expenses for the provision of this training.

The Ministry of Employment, Universities, Business and Environment, through the SEF, will finance these courses, with the aim of facilitating the acquisition of qualifications and the subsequent hiring of people who are registered as unemployed. In the selection of candidates, priority will be given to access to those who are long-term unemployed or belong to a vulnerable group.

The deadline for applying for these grants is open until next Friday, September 28, and the courses are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2019. Among the companies that opted for this route in past calls are, for example, Primark, Mecánicas Bolea, Crown Food or Adecco, and in almost all cases the percentage of those hired was always higher than the pre-established 40 percent.

The SEF general manager, Severa González, stressed that this initiative “is synonymous with tailor-made courses for companies, because they make it easier for them to obtain the exact profiles they need. As for the students, they have the opportunity to participate in what is probably the most attractive training modality that we offer, with the direct possibility of joining the company.”
With these courses, companies benefit from the possibility of training workers 'on demand' in very specific areas where they generally have problems finding the required profiles. Some examples from past calls for applications are micro-irrigation or the iron and steel industry.
